I'm very fair skinned, and I have tattoos, how do I get a good tan without fading them?

One tattoo is a very colorful Virgin Mary, the other is a black/gry shaded lion head. I'm worried the lion one will fade quick so I try and take very good care of it. I use SPF 50 but I would like a nice tan for summer time. What methods could I use to get a nice tan w/out damaging my nice/expensive tats? No tanning beds cause they're bad and nothing that'll make me orange please.
