Need advice about subwoofers?

Alright, I want to put subwoofers in my car but I don't know the first thing about them. I need advice such as how much to spend, which brand is the best, installation, and any other tidbits you would like to throw in. By the way, my car is an 09 impala LT, if it makes any difference. thanks.
