What does this mean? My friends in the hospital?

My friends dad beat her... really really bad. and she's in the hospital, and she was in there for a few days and still hasn't 'waken up.' but, today i was there, and the beep thing was going really fast. what does that mean? do you think shes gonna wake up? is it good?
