Why are acoustics so important to musicians?

It can effect intonation, tuning, dynamics, and anything else. If a room is live it can muffle the staccato notes and make it sound like your not articulating anything but mush. It can be very frustrating to have practiced something and then have to change it all because of the rooms acoustics.
