Why would a person want to remain a closet ?

I think you need to talk to her that you respect her for what and who she really is. Might be she`s just fear of rejection in other words she won`t to lose you as friend. And she does not know yet what will you react. That`s why she keep her uality in secret. Tell her that you support her no matter what.
